Drilling through-holes
Begin with board construction, finished-hole requirements and the drilling operation. Confirm the required tool diameter with your process engineer, including any allowance required by subsequent processing.
Small-diameter drilling
Small tools make spindle condition, collet cleanliness, runout, stack support and chip evacuation important parts of the selection brief. A different geometry alone cannot resolve every source of breakage.
Slots and elongated openings
Identify whether the operation is a drilled slot, a routed opening or another machine-specific cycle. Share the slot width, length, corner requirements and toolpath approach before choosing a tool.
Board profile routing
Specify the substrate, board thickness, profile tolerance and required edge quality. Confirm the routing geometry and working length against machine capability and the intended support method.
The information to send
| Application detail | Useful information |
|---|---|
| Workpiece | Laminate grade, thickness, stack height and copper construction. |
| Tool | Diameter, flute length, shank, overall length and current geometry. |
| Machine | Machine model, spindle limits, collet condition and current settings. |
| Outcome | Required finish, current defect, photographs and intended quantity. |
These notes are selection prompts, not universal machining parameters. Trial conditions must be approved for your machine, material and process.
