Look beyond the cutting diameter.
Undercut tools use a reduced body behind the cutting section. The right selection depends on the full geometry and the process, not simply the undercut label.
Compare the actual geometry
Provide the current tool drawing or dimensions where possible. Cutting length and body clearance need to be evaluated with the board stack and hole requirements.
Plan a controlled evaluation
When comparing tools, record board construction, machine settings and the acceptance criteria. Avoid changing several process variables at once if the goal is to understand tool behaviour.
Catalogue dimensions
Selected catalogue sizes are shown below. All dimensions are in millimetres. Ranges describe the tool family, not every possible diameter and length combination. Confirm the exact specification and current availability before ordering.
| Cutting diameter (mm) | Flute length (mm) |
|---|---|
| 0.25 | 4.0 |
| 0.30 | 5.0 |
| 0.35 | 6.5 |
| 0.40 | 7.0 |
| 0.45 | 7.0 |
| 0.50 | 8.5 |
| 0.55 | 8.0 |
| 0.60 | 8.0 |
| 0.65 | 8.0 |
| 0.70 | 8.5 |
| 0.75–1.20 | 10.0 |
